In honor if my 666th post, I shall post some interesting facts about the number 666
What do you know about the number 666? We all know that it is associated with the devil, a symbol of the Antichrist. But why is 666 regarded as the devil’s number? What is special about the number 666? Is there any mathematical significance to this number?

How did 666 come to be associated with the devil?
Book of Revelation 13.18
Here is wisdom. Let him that hath understanding count the number of the beast: for it is the number of a man; and his number is Six hundred threescore and six.
WWW = 666?
Does www stand for the number 666?
Well, we all know “www” is the acronym for world wide web and is normally used as the prefix, or first node of the Internet domain names. Is www the same as 666?
Well, YES and NO.
FIRST, THE YES:
The Hebrew and Greek alphabet does not have a separate character or alphabet for numbers and letters. Letters are used as numbers. So each letter is a numerical value.
The Hebrew equivalent of our “w” is the letter “vav” or “waw”, The numerical value of which is 6. So the English “www” transliterated into Hebrew is “vav vav vav”, which numerically is 666!
NOW, THE NO.
Revelation 13:18 reads:
Here is wisdom. Let him that hath understanding count the number of the beast; for it is the number of a man; and his number is Six hundred threescore and six.
The number is NOT simply three SIXES or 6-6-6, but 600 + 60 + 6, or the number “Six hundred sixty and six”.
We’re curiously told to “count the number of the beast”. In Revelation 14:11 the mark is referred to “the mark of his NAME”. In Revelation 13:17, 15:2 It’s called “the number of his NAME”. So the “mark” and “number” refer to his “name”.
The “count the number of the beast” is the total of adding up the letter/numerical value of his name. This count equals “Six hundred sixty and six’, not simply three 6’s or 666. If we apply the clear teaching of Revelation 13:18 to the Hebrew “www”, we actually have 6+6+6 or 18 – not 666.
It’s also been discovered the Hebrew letter “vav” means “hook, peg or nail”. The number “6” also resembles a “hook”. Is the internet “hooking” the world into the 666 system? Just some food for thought!

666 and Solomon’s Gold
The Number 666 is associated with the Sun, which in itself is associated with Gold. Scripture associates Gold and 666 in the books of Kings 10.14.
Kings 10.14: Now the weight of gold that came to Solomon in one year was Six hundred threescore and Six talents of gold.
Hexakosioihexekontahexaphobia (Yes – that’s what I said!)
The number 666 is regarded by many people as a very unlucky number. Indeed it is the focus of a full-blown phobia (Hexakosioihexekontahexaphobia – fear of the number 666) for the unfortunate few.
There is even a bizarre conspiracy theory that all product bar-codes contain 666 and that the number has been hidden in them in order to control humanity “No one could buy or sell unless he had this mark, that is, the beasts name, or the number that stands for his name” Revelation 13:7-18.

This myth has come about simply because the guard bars in a bar-code, (markers which mark the beginning, middle and end of the code) are similar (but not identical) to the bars that code for the number six.
Conspiracy theorists were mis-interpreting the guard bars for the number six which led them to conclude that the number 666 had been secretly embedded in every bar-code.
More interesting facts:
Former American president Reagan owned a ranch whose civic number was 666 St. Cloud Road. In 1989, to avoid misfortune, his wife Nancy Reagan made him change the number to 668.
The Germano-Soviet pact lasted 666 days, from August 23, 1939 to June 20, 1941.
The official selling price of the first APPLE computer Apple-1 released in July 1976 was $666.66.
In Canada, the telephone number of the Supreme Court is (613) 996-8666. In addition, the numerical root of this number generates the number of the Beast:
(613) 996-8666 ⇒ 6 + 1 + 3 + 9 + 9 + 6 + 8 + 6 + 6 + 6 = 60 ⇒ 6 + 0 = 6.
The six smallest basic Roman numerals are D (500), C (100), L (50), X (10), V (5), and I (1). The number DCLXVI in the Roman numeral system is equivalent to 666 in base-10.Water boils at 212°F, and 212π = 666.017 ≈ 666.
Water freezes at 273.15°K, and the number 273.15^273.15 has 666 digits.
The inverse of 666 is the repeating decimal 0.001501501501…. The number 501 is the sum of the first 18 primes.
In binary, the number 666 is 1010011010. If you replace every 0 with a 1, every 1 with a 0, and then reverse the order of the digits, you get 1010011010 again.
On a simple calculator, enter the expression 6*66 + 6 + 66 + 666. The answer you get is 1134, and when you turn the calculator upside down it reads “hell.”
The licence plate of the vehicle transporting the Pope Jean-Paul II at the time of his trip to Hungary carried number 666.
An careful reading of the original Greek text of Apocalyse reveals that the term “mark” (of the Beast) [Charagma in Greek] used in verse 17, chapter 13 of Apocalyse, is the 666th word! …
In the district of Manhattan in New York, the number of the Beast 666 is illuminated at the top of the skyscraper “Tishman Building“, located at the corner of the 5th Avenue and the 52th Western Street, near to Rockefeller Center and the principal studios of television.

In Israel, to make telephones overseas it is initially necessary to compose code 666!
Also in Israel, number 666 is printed on lottery tickets. The slogan of a national lottery is “Uncover 666 and win!”.
In addition, in Jerusalem, the license plates of the majority of the taxis and the buses start with number 666.
In Japan, the sum of the six only current coins [1 yen, 5, 10, 50, 100 and 500 yens ] is 666.
Hiro Hito, Japanese emperor at the time of the explosion of the atomic bomb on Hiroshima (on August 6, 1945) was the 666th monarch of Japan.
The sum of the first 144 decimals of number Pi is worth 666. In mathematics, Pi is a real number noted π which is defined as the ratio of the circumference C of a circle to its diameter d = 2r (where r is the radius of the circle).

In addition, in the numerical coding on basis 100, like in the reversed numerology based on Lower-Case ASCII codes, “La couleur” [“The color” in French] has an alphanumeric value of 999, whereas the English expression “The Color” is worth 888.

French magician and casino operator, Francois Blanc, reputedly sold his soul to the devil in exchange for the secrets of the Roulette wheel.
