Everything you think you know about what the Earth really looks like is wrong

An explanation for the use of a false map, and why we should switch to teaching our kids a map based on true relative size, was featured in The West Wing.


A sphere cannot be represented on a flat plane without distortion, which means all map projections are distorted in one way or another.

I  would have to say that there would only be two possible “actual” views of the world, either the resulting depiction of all possible wavelengths combined, or black and white, as color may or may not be a figment of our imaginations.
